The Guest House Al Portico is a recently renovated, charming little place run by an American woman who likes to call the house a working mans palace! The Guest House is located in the historic center of Venice, in the Cannaregio District - a 7 minute walk from the train station with only one bridge to cross! The Guest House is a real home, with 9 bedrooms for rent, all with private baths. It is an excellent location hidden slightly away from the mass tourist areas of the city. A few minutes from the Grand Canal San Marcuola boat stop which will take you anywhere you need to go.An inviting courtyard greets visitors at the entrance here you will find Stacys honesty bar stocked with wine, water and sometimes beer take what you like and leave your money in the box! The courtyard acts as a gathering place for breakfast and is also fun for happy hour! In this house you are encouraged to relax with a glass or two of wine and meet new friends or if you prefer just take a bottle off to the privacy of your own room or up to the third floor terrace a perfect spot for sunning or an afternoon nap after seeing the cities sites! From 6th November untill 11th December HAPPY HOUR with Stacy and friends! 6-7pm FREE WINE!The bedrooms are all of a comfortable size, large for European standards, all have private baths. Modestly furnished and very clean with a personal, creative touch by the owner.The house is divided in this way: ground floor- entrance + courtyard with service bar1st floor- office, 4 rooms2nd floor- owners flat + 3 rooms3rd floor-2 rooms, terrace, kitchenStacy, the hostess welcomes everyone personally and strives for a friendly, home like atmosphere. She has a green-minded business and openly asks guests to collaborate with her. Linens are changed on request, recycling bins are in the courtyard, water bottles go to the wine man down the street and the bookshelves and kitchen are on the honorary system. (Oh, and her cat yes patrols the halls..other small animals are excepted just as long as they understand that yes is the princess of the palace!)A simple self - service continental style breakfast is offered seasonally from March 1st untill November 1st. Guests are expected to look after themselves.Year round, guests are welcome to use the community kitchen and throw together a meal with new friends.Our families restaurant La Colombina is right next door and offers a fantastic selection of fresh, seasonal foods prepared daily by owner and Chef Domenico Iacuzio. Guest House clients are offered a 10% discount on dinner. From 6th November till 11th December every Thursday at 7.30 pm - ITALIAN FEAST. How to arrive to The Guest House Al Portico...it is required to communicate your estimated time of arrival in order to be available to greet you...we accept check in between 13.00 midnight. Arrivals after 18.00 must be confirmed prior to arrival.by air: International Airport Marco PoloUpon exiting baggage claim in front of you and to your left you will find transportation services for arriving to Venice.private water-taxi. Costs starting at 100 euro from m.polo airport you can arrange for a taxi at the water taxi service desk in front of you upon exiting baggage claim. Or you can email or call us at the hotel 3 days prior to your arrival and we will arrange a taxi to pick you up and bring you directly to the Guest House.car - taxi to Piazzale Roma (P.Roma) drivers are located directly outside of airport terminal costs between 50 70 euro depending on number of passengers and baggage.public bus transportation to Piazzale Roma ACTV (orange bus makes several stops) or ATVO(blu bus- 20 mins. direct to venice) buy tickets inside airport terminal or at automatic machines near busesTrevisio AirportTake bus or taxi transportation service to Piazzale Roma then follow directions from P. Roma to the Guest Housewalkingonly recommended if you are light on bags!! it is a pleasant walk with few bridges...you need to cross the New Glass Calatrava bridge and head up Lista di Spagna Strada Nuova. A few minutes after crossing Ponte delle Guglie and the fruit and vegetable market of S. Leonardo you will note on your left a lovely building covered in mosaic Teatro Italia (or Cinema Italia as the locals call it) The Guest House is hidden back on the right behind the Green kiosk news stand and our restaurant La Colombina under the Sotoportego del Pegolotopublic boat (vaporetto or vap)ACTVS lines from P. Roma or from Ferrovia (train station) to the Guest HouseVaporetto Lines 1 get off at S. Marcuola stop. Just a short walk from the boat stop to your room...with your back to the grand canal walk straight ahead, turn left towards the church and take your 1st right, end of calle, then right again... you arrive in Corte del Pegoloto. You will see our restaurant La Colombina on your left and ahead of you our (archway) Sotoportego del Pegoloto. Our front door is under the sotoportego.from train station to the Guest Housewalking an easy walk with only one bridge!
